X-RAY

• Refers both to the radiologic process and to the radiation particles. Whether used as a noun, verb, or adjective, lowercase and hyphenate.

E.g. His x-ray was not in the jacket. (noun)
He was x-rayed yesterday. (verb)
His x-ray films have been lost. (adjective)

• Capitalized x-ray only when it is the first word in a sentence.
E.g. X-ray films showed….
• Avoid using the prefix re- with x-ray. Edit instead.
E.g. x-ray again preferred to re-x-ray not rex-ray
